Guard Petals:
The outer petal of a rose is commonly referred to as the guard petal. These are the petals that can appear wrinkled, discolored and sometimes even burnt. The petals can be considered the guardian of the internal petals taking the punches of conditions brought on by weather, shipping and packing. They protect the inner petals to maintain their display ready beauty.
Proper Hydration:
Make sure to always cut the flowers stem at an angle. This will allow the stems to properly hydrate. For best hydration leave the plastic wrapper on while the flowers are hydrating. Hydration can vary between varieties but normally can be between 6-8 hours. Most flowers will take up to 8 to 12 hours to properly hydrate. Make sure to always have the flowers in a cool environment and away from direct sunlight for maximum lifespan.
